The Big Dunk

On the way to Blogstock ‘08 we took a detour to see our future daughter in-law get baptized. We also saw the new house. Then as an added bonus, DOR (Daughter of Ralph) and SILOR (Son in Law of Ralph) came to visit.

I suppose there is a shorter way to Nebraska rather than swinging through Illinois, but it was worth it.

Signs

This sign is on a bench at a bus stop I recently passed. The rest of the bench reads, “Monthly Classes. Contact (phone number)."

Now think about it – how do you get enough experience to teach this class?

Sunday Funnies

At church, Joe was in charge of taking up the offering. One Sunday after the service, the priest counted the cash and found it was smaller than anticipated. The priest gave Joe a questioning look and told him that it did not seem enough for the size of the congregation.

Joe said that he did not take any of the offering. The priest again questioned him, and again he said that he did not take any of the offering. Finally, the priest said, "Get into the confessional," which Joe did.

The priest asked him if he took any of the offering. Joe said, "I can´t hear you."

Again the priest asked, "Joe, did you take any of the offering?"

Joe answered, "I can´t hear you."

This time the priest yelled, "JOE, DID YOU TAKE ANY OF THE OFFERING?"

Again Joe answered, "I can’t hear you."

Now the priest was so angry he came out of the confessional and said, "Joe, trade places with me and ask me a question."

So they traded places, and Joe asked, "I heard that you and my wife are having an affair; is that true?"

The priest answered, "By golly, you can’t hear in here."

Back to Blogstock

Yesterday I went off on a little tangent about terms and sayings. SOR (Son of Ralph) read the post then called and started the conversation, “What’s going on Boss?” He should have been calling me that through his teenage years rather than some of the other terms of endearment I’m sure he used.

Let’s get back to having some fun – Blogstock. Another post is up about possible culinary options on the fourth. The fourth is going to be a fun day but the big event at the farm will be the afternoon and evening of the fifth. More about this later.

So please go check out Blogstock.

Boss

There are a few things in life that just flat tick me off. Okay, there are more than a few, but I digress.

What the hell is up with the term ‘Boss’? I went to a restaurant the other day and every time the waiter talked to me he call me ‘Boss’.

Tonight I went to look at used cars and every time the snotty nosed kid they called a salesman talked to me, he called me ‘Boss’.

Rest assured in both cases if I were the boss – their butt’s would be out the door.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

Plans

Please check out the Blogstock site. We need to get numbers finalized in the next couple of weeks.

A few people have been locked out of the Blogstock site lately. While you might think it's because we don’t want you showing up – nothing could be farther from the truth.

It seems like Blogger has a mind of its own. FEAR NOT. If you find yourself locked out just e-mail either Cliff or I or leave a comment in our most current post. We will re-invite you.

Sunday Funnies

A drunken woman staggered into a church, sat down in the Confessional and said nothing.

The priest waited and waited and waited, saying nothing. In desperation, he coughed to attract the drunken woman's attention, still nothing.

The priest then knocks on the wall three times in an attempt to get the woman to speak.

Finally the drunk woman replies, ''No use knockin,' honey. There's no paper here either."

Bad Sunday OR Signs of Things to Come

For whatever reason neither Char nor I slept well last night. So, when we woke up a little late this morning it was no great surprise. But, a decision had to be made. Do we go to the 9:00 AM service, which we usually go to or do we go to the 10:30 service, meaning we would not have to rush around.

I voted for 10:30, I hate rushing on Sunday mornings. Char decided on the 9:00 service. The rush had begun.

The 9:00 service is good. You get in, you get out, and you have the rest of the day. The drawback is the age group, it's kind of the service for the over 50 crowd. While my body fits in quite nicely, in my head I am nowhere nearly that old.

So, we rushed around got to the 9:00 service with all the people in age group. Then to make matters worse we set in the hearing impaired section, a few people who have difficulty hearing and us - just a couple rows back from the interpreter.

Hopefully, the rest of the day goes better.
